You can find the translated volumes in English on Amazon. They’re inexpensive, but the series hasn’t been fully translated into English yet. The two books are completed on Ridibooks, which is where I read it, but you’ll need to download a translator on your browser because it’s in Korean (plenty of translators are free), and you’ll need to verify your account where Under the Oak Tree is rated mature, for 19+, on Ridi (the manhwa took out all the spicy parts 🙁 ). The verification process was easy when I did it a few years ago, but I know you can look up tutorials online if you need help with the verification. You can read one chapter for free a day on Ridi, or you can buy coins to unlock more chapters. 🙂
WHY ARE PEOPLE HATING ON MAXI WHEN SHE JUST FOUND OUT, SHE LOST THE CHILD SHE ALWAYS WANTED??? The only person that has ever lend a hand to Maxi and have let a slow and steady place to grow is Ruth the mage, but at the end of the day everyone failed her, that is a kind of abuse, not even Maxi knew what really happened to her body and the stupid as*ole the Riftan expected NO ONE would tell in her OUT OF HIS OWN KINGDOM SURROUNDED BY STRANGERS????
Maxi is a child of an abusive relationship, was abuse for all of her life, didn’t had a voice even though of what was gonna happen to her, she got married just because she was taken, she wanted a child because it was expected for her. The ONLY thing she ever wanted was to be a Mage, to be helpful and the Half of a Man Riftan always limited his option, never questioned why she wanted it (I know the idea that he has of her, that was pampered and whatever) but how about you believe your wife??? how about you ask what your wife wants??
cuz their stupid they don’t know how this story works …the girl has trauma since she was a young little kid, they think that can be fixed easily it lol it doesn’t matter how much she tried to change to be better …her trauma is still there hidden within her they don’t understand she still has doubts, insecurity, self esteem within herself, these poeple haven’t been really paying attention, like when riften screamed at her saying she wont be strong like the princess or she was scared to meet her….. like HELLO! …. maxi still has insecurities, depression is something you cant get over easily it stays unless you get help, and it effected her a lot ESPECALLY when they never told her the truth about her pregnancy and from the beginning, that made her trauma even WORSE lets not forget her father manipulating her and the gossip the people is having that’s how the father found out so it made maxi think worse things about herself ..and these people expect for her to be okay with it? and move on? …when you have trauma is hard to get over, and right now maxi is going through some misunderstanding but riften will come for her and everything will be okay …right now maxi is going through depression, and some people don’t understand how that works….. for example when women get hit by men that’s traumatizing you don’t get over that EVER until you get help but even if you moved on and be stronger that shit always haunts you and that’s what’s happening to poor maxi her trauma still haunts her
As the daughter of a violent father and a phallo-loving parental family, I can say that what we expect is for Maxi to believe more in what Riftan has showed her and proven to her over and over again. Her sister gave her a wonderful lesson: “YOU do not believe HE loves you. Otherwise what are you doing here?” She could have fought for Riftan, she did NOT have to entangle with fighting her father, she could just have told the princess: “Riftan wanted ME to wait HERE. do YOU want me gone?” and the princess would have clearly stated to her father to suck cocks.
That is what is making us snarl at Maxi. My father always thought I was only good enough to be a semen receptable for some guy, as I am not smart enough to even breathe on my own; and he made me feel constantly worthless, Women are worthless, they can’t do shit. the ONLY power they have is the power of seduction and convincing a man to protect and provide for them. That was my teaching. OF course you get daddy-issues when finding a mate but you either swim or drown. Waiting to be rescued is lame, but that is JUST me
i understand what your saying, i get it …but your not understanding us … you have to remember not everyone is the same i have a friend who also went through violence she became stronger BUT her TRUAMA it still haunts her, cuz that’s the point here, and sometimes with ANY miscommunication or someone she doesn’t trust it gets to her QUICK cuz that’s not easy to get over, that’s what you guys have to understand cuz depression and TRUAMA is something you don’t get over that easily that’s what maxi is going through it takes TIME and it can take YEARS so maxi is going to get through is just not the time yet, what her sister told her i totally get it and i don’t think she’s a bad person either she has her way of surviving but maxi has to figure that out on her own and that’s okay cuz she will do it at her own time and riften will be there soon to get her back
Rosetta’s backstory is also heartbreaking to be honest… I won’t spoil everything, but she knew that if she wasn’t perfect and didn’t meet or better yet exceed the duke’s expectations, she would be abused the same way Maxi is. So she turned herself into the perfect ice queen. No unnecessary emotions. That is why she might seem harsh, but you can’t blame her… she genuinely believes love doesn’t exist and that all relationships are purely contractual, even between daughter and father. A woman must give in order to receive. You can see it in the way she talks about men. Given her only example has been her father, it’s no wonder she’s so cynical and jaded. She cares about Maxi in her own way though. Hence why she said she wished Maxi never returned… because she sees the hell that Maxi has lived, and she wanted her to have a better life. Rosetta has surrendered herself to the fact that she must bear a son at all costs and that her marriage will only be political, with no feelings attached. That is her only escape. She blames Maxi for the situation she’s in because, to her, she should’ve lived quietly and waited for Riftan’s return in Anatol. If she had, she wouldn’t be back at the duchy, and she wouldn’t have had a miscarriage. Her position as his wife would still be secure. Rosetta and Maxi are two very good examples of how growing up in an abusive environment can shape you. Rosetta became the golden child to protect herself, and Maxi the black sheep, blaming herself for her father’s abuse. 🙁
yeah i knew right away Rosetta wasn’t a bad person i felt she was going through the same things as maxi …what she said wasn’t out of hate she really wanted maxi to live on and never come back to that horrible place …i can tell she wanted maxi to be stronger …she just said it in her own way
