I can’t believe I just casually stumbled upon this, and that I almost skipped it! This is so incredibly good, I binge read all 85 available chapters. All characters are amazingly written, the plot is super good, this is all I could have ever asked for and more. Dunno about you, but I just love this a lot

The FL is so timid.. she shouldn’t allow the grand duke to decide anything about the properties aside from the diamonds in the room that he will inherit.. according to their deal the duchess was only to give him the diamonds and not her MONEY! I don’t know if it’s a fault with the translation but it ticks me off..
I knew that the plan is go get them to marry but hearing the queen say it’s good that they marry cuz the FL will always be and forever will be just a commoner that her child will not be recognized as noble wtf…
The ML is always in irritated face ? the story has a potential but honestly the plot is so predictable and the characters personality are off…

The duke was originally the duchess’ (candidate) successor. The ML’s reaction is still on the normal range. I too, would be very upset if the promised inheritance (the jewels) for me would be claimed by a total stranger. But at least, he had a favorable impression of her the first time they met. He’s not arrogant too. Remember that part where he was willing to apologize because of his rude behavior? I think the character design for the ml is well balanced. He’s not too friendly, not too cold. He’s still annoyed by the fact that his inheritance was snatched away from him but still willing to communicate with the fml.
And the fml’s child can still be recognized as a noble. Its just, the child cannot ascend the throne. Remember that the queen and king hasnt produced an offspring yet. The duke is the king’s brother. If the royal couple cannot produce an heir, the next in line for the throne will be the Duke’s firstborn. But the duke is not interested and he doesn’t want the queen to think that He’s aiming for the throne so he purposely stayed away from women. The queen merely suggested that it’s a win-win situation. The inheritance of the deceased duchess will be under the royal family if the duke married the duchy’s heiress plus he can get the jewels promised to him. Also, the Duke doesn’t need to worry about his children ascending the throne because their mother is not of noble blood. And its not a plan, the queen even said that she’s just suggesting it. If anything, the marriage will be helpful for the fml because the ml is a jewel mage so he understand the danger of the fmls ability. He can protect her from being exploited by other mages
