The ridiculous part is that the dog snuck into a picnic basket without anyone realizing & that it wouldn’t be able to tread water in a calm lake in warm weather. Dog could def drown, but in no world would it jumping into a calm lake be enough of an emergency to dive in immediately after it, there would have been time to send in a servant & have them take off their shoes or outer layers off before they went in after it lol
