Intelligence =/= emotional maturity or the capacity to become more emotionally mature. He’s been socially isolated for so long and is still trying to navigate interpersonal relationships and the consequences of his actions. But he won’t truly understand it unless someone TELLS him: “This is how she felt when you said this, this is what she thinks when you behave this way, when your actions make others feel bad, you have to own up to your mistakes and apologize even if that wasn’t your intention”. You can’t just say “oh you’re smart, solve it yourself”. He’s a 6 y.o. who just lost his parents and got dumped into someone else’s household, cut him some slack.
