actually reading @FrailCritter’s comment made me realize tarkan’s side, love is not always romantic it can be platonic, admirable, attachment anything! It is how we percieve it. I agree that tarkan just felt this sense of admiration for the blondie back then when she was there when he was at his lowest, and aristine WOULDVE understood that IF he didnt term it in the wrong way!!!
just a 2-3 chapters back he mentioned “taking care of 2 women” that simple thing went out of context and caused a misunderstanding between the two! He should’ve worded it properly
It still doesn’t seem like he’s ‘in love’ with the blonde girl from his past. Aristine or not, whatever. She’s someone who saved him from something. He feels indebted.
He was an unwanted kid whose mother wasn’t around for most of his torturous childhood. His father didn’t protect him well enough. So of course he clung to the first person who tried to help him.
He might’ve thought he loved the girl in the past, because he was naive and had no one else as close to him. But I think it was just a fixation on the first person to ever show him real kindness. His brother doesn’t really count, as they are still in a fight for succession. He’s not ‘safe’ like the girl who saved him is. She wanted to help him and as far as he knew, had no reason to want him dead.
Now he loves Aristine, but he’s been fixated for so long, it’s hard to let go. Especially since the only reason he’d really have to is because Aristine is jealous. He’d probably be able to accept he doesn’t love her if he could still look for her and try to pay her back. It’s just ‘letting go’ of a person who was so foundational to him that’s holding him back.
If it weren’t this all-or-nothing thing, it’d probably have been taken care of already.
I might be wrong. But I want to believe he’s more of the honorable type. He doesn’t know how to explain his feelings, so it’s hard for him to answer her, but I don’t think he would’ve taken that woman as his concubine unless there were horribly extenuating circumstances. And even then, he respects Aristine too much and loves her too much, to just do that without asking.
Not to mention he could just put her in his staff and that would suffice for protection and providing and all that.
I don’t get why Aristine got so upset in the first place, honestly. The girl is long gone and he’s only looking for her because she was his first love. Of course you’re going to want to know what happened to them.
If my husband had a wife before me who suddenly disappeared and he still looked for her, I’d accept that. He loved her. He wants to know she’s safe and had simply run away, rather than the horrible alternatives.
Once again ‘being sincere’ doesn’t always mean romantic love. It just means a feeling of deep sincere emotion. Toward a woman. Which can be seen as bad from the outside.
And even if he truly is or was in love with her, so what? Are we now expected to throw away our feelings for people who left our lives to make our partners more comfortable, feeling like they’re the only ones we’ve ever loved?
That sounds horrible. And if this situation was flipped, I think more people would be pushing for understanding for Aristine, instead of calling her a cheater for just wanting someone to be alive, wanting to repay them their kindness or feeling some kind of love for them from afar because they made a strong impression on you in your youth.
shes upset because he gave the impression that it was love, i cant remember but it was stated that people believe its his “first love” and so did he.
if your husband who you had just experienced deep intimacy for the first time in your marriage is exposed LOOKING for another girl youll be anxious about whether he truly cared for you. and since its known he was in love with this girl with him searching for her she will assume its for a deeper relationship rather than thanking them because he spent ALL his life on alert to find this one person.
she assumes because he is still devoted to this goose chase his feelings for her are still passionate more than his towards her.
god the author really knows how to get a character from green to red in just 2 chapters… i want aristine to go with her brother but im sure that wont happen..
