Yeah no, I’m officially done with this Manhwa. I already left a brief summary about this like three or four months ago but here we go again because I do NOT want to put potential readers through the disgust I’ve been through. Long story short, this story is fetish content meant for those of us who like ‘Obsessive Male Leads’ thinly veiled behind a somewhat promising premise. Turn your brain off, and get rid of your moral code if you just want to quote on quote “Enjoy” the story… Good luck because even my smut-rotted brain can’t get over some of this. Young ladies and gay men in here let me tell you something, a nigga do you like this in real life he supposed to DIE the same day, pull a The Dixie Chicks/The Chicks and poison his food. Anyways…. REALLY LONG RANT AND SPOILERS SO DON’T READ IT IF YOU HAVE A SHORT ATTENTION SPAN LIKE I DO.

Let me start off by saying that everyone in this Manhwa BESIDES Eunha and her Eonni(she’s my wife I’ve claimed her back off)- Is an irredeemable piece of shit. I went into this thinking “Okay, stereotypical smut Manhwa set in misogynistic times”…. I was wrong, at least most of those types of Manhwas are self-aware. This Manhwa tries to be smart, it tries to play the whole ‘complicated plots and schemes’ shit but every antagonist is just so stupid, I can’t take any of them seriously. Our FL is just an errand girl’, in short she’s a servant(Meaning she don’t sleep with anybody, she just ‘does work around the whore house’). Her Eonni on the other hand… IS a Kisaeng, meaning she does sleep with clients to afford food and whatever for her and Eunha. And to no one’s surprise if you’re an OG Manhwa reader, the headmistress or whatever you wanna call that old hag is a bitchy whore who discriminates and bullies both Eunha and her Eonni(primarily Eunha cuz the Second Male lead likes her). Let me add, if you hate the FL for her naivety and optimism, and say that she deserves all that she gets put through, there’s a special place in hell for you. You can hate her thoughts and actions, but you must also put yourself in her shoes… Survival is the MAIN focus of everyone unfortunate enough to be born as lower class citizens(so the vast majority of us), and sometimes we have to do difficult things and delude ourselves into believing that everything’s okay.

Okay, the whole jealous hag ’employer’ bs isn’t anything too weird or too new for Manhwas… We all know they looooove their bullying backstory. I’ve seen worse to be honest, BUT what makes this Manhwa so fucking stupid is the fact that it tries to cosplay as this deep piece of literature that highlights women’s suffering and the unfairness of older times. Speaking of ‘cosplay’ onto our ML Jihak Seo…. This man is DEVIOUS and STUPID. Who the fuck pretends to be blind so badly? My mother is completely blind, so I have experience when it comes to mannerisms… You could argue that “It’s set in older Times and therefore isn’t going to have all the methods and whatever to play pretend, and people aren’t going to know the difference”… But this guy is so unabashed… Like he’s a perverted rapist(No surprise he’s the ML of a smut Manhwa), he coerces my Nuer into Sex acts SHAMELESSLY. Emotionally manipulates and abuses her, threatens her with her Eonni’s life at certain points… And their entire relationship is toxic and fickle.

Servant-Master relationships are a difficult art to master, because one wrong move and it turns into Sexual Abuse/Dubious Consent because there’s a very, very obvious power imbalance, whenever an ML(Or FL in EXTREMELY rare cases) is the ML/FL’S employer it becomes a very, very integral part of your story to establish boundaries and consent- You know what forget this shit, no one’s looking for Green Flag Male Lead’s in Smut Manhwa’s, I don’t need to give y’all a masterclass in healthy relationships, but the Male Lead of this Manhwa in particular… God if I was my Nuer I would’ve killed this man fifty times over.

100 rape rape dubious consent dubious consent’s later a plot point starts to form… Some palace official dude wants to kill the ML… Very new and never seen before premise am I right. I’m so sick of this I’m not even using proper grammar Jesus Christ. And due to the uncharacteristic ‘favor'(Hate calling it that because it’s a curse for Eunha) the ML shows our FL, she gets roped into this mess as well because these bum ass niggas(pardon my language) suddenly have a dusty lightbulb with cracks in it over their heads. “Let’s use the very obviously NOT suited for the Job young lady to kill this guy, and then push all the blame on her!” As if the ML isn’t going to find out about their stupid plot, and all of this could’ve been avoided if they just used a different servant.

If I’m being real I was rooting for them for a while because yes! Kill this guy! But then they had to assault my Nuer and now I must wish death upon them like Monaleo. Women in this manhwa are very stereotypical! We have sweet!(victim material) Naive!(victim material) Kind!(victim material) Oblivious!(victim material) and oh-so Innocent and Pure(victim material) FL who can only go along with our Firm!(sexual abuser) Hot!(sexual abuser) Dark and Brooding!(sexual abuser) Sexual Deviant!(sexual abuser) Cold and Ruthless!(sexual abuser) Super Duper Hot!(sexual abuser) ML’s abuse and coercion to survive. Our Eonni is done very dirty, the guy they were setting up to be the Second Male Lead turns out to be sexually assaulting her because she looks like Eunha! Next best thing in his eyes I guess! But besides that both potential “Love Interests” are wack as fuck, save Eunha and every other innocent woman in this Manhwa from the absolute curse that is men in higher positions of power.

Finally onto my main issue! (Latest chapters!) Our FL gets kidnapped and physically beaten by the same old noble guy who wants to kill the ML… No surprise, and is ordered to “Slowly Poison the dude’s food so that he won’t notice it!” Smart right? NO… If y’all have been spying on the nigga you wanna kill you should know by now that he HATES betrayal, like instant death for people who’re NOT the FL… Why the fuck would you bank on him keeping her alive long enough to poison him instead of I don’t know…. Picking an older worker that just casually does their job???

These bums ‘frame’ the FL of ‘getting raped'(hate using this sort of terminology, but for the idiots she didn’t get raped by them… They just ripped her clothes and stuff the make it seem like she was), and dumped her on a mountain for the ML and his people to find her. You want to know what the ML’s main issue is after finding his new favorite toy beaten half-to-death on a snowy mountainside? The fact that she ‘ran away and betrayed’ him….. If you’re still following peep I said earlier that she was kidnapped… She didn’t do this of her own accord, I find it so funny that everyone knows how shit the ML is, and that people running away from him is the only thing that they could fathom.

i agree that the novels are always better ….but girl listen lol is better you don’t judge lol dark romance is a thing for a reason, someone thats new into this type of genre will never understand lol but again is not for everyone this is for crazy people like me lol which theres nothing wrong with that cuz is FANTASY, is NOT REAL thats the part you guys dont get, yall taking this too seriously like we legit like this crap in real life this is fake lol this story is make believe lol in the real world yes is fucked up… dark romance is a world where HANDSOME men with ALFA power gets the girl in their own bold/bunt way and us crazy girls like that shyt lol …there no such thing in the real world cuz is fake …you think this story is bad? “haunted Adeline” and other dark romance books is worse lol this manwha is light work lol and i love them ..but again everyone is different …but i get it this aint your thing …but my question is why are you still here? lol that’s the part i don’t get … are you seriously still reading this? lol

This was an advisory for people with similar opinions as me. The fact that you commented twice, within TWO minutes of your original one tells me that your opinion differs from mine. If you enjoy the parts of this that I expressed displeasure in… I find you weird, but I won’t exactly judge. Just move on about your day, I made my opinions clear in my beginning paragraph, just because you have a short attention span, doesn’t make my comment wrong. My advice for people is to always take such reviews into consideration, before reading the material themselves. Yes, I have a lot of critiques due to my own personal beliefs, but from a moral standpoint the things I bring up and find fault with are far from unreasonable, I’m not really too interested in your opinion when all you’ve done is criticize me for not liking the useless and unnecessary rape. I’ll excuse the misogyny given the time period this is set in though… Dark romances are just that, dark romances, but the thing that makes this one different is because it’s been executed badly, I’m sure the novel is much better than this adaptation because Manhwa’s can only do so much.

FL 3/10 (she is stupid, the kind of stupidity that doesn’t think of her actions first; she just agrees with her own conclusion and dramatizes, taking action without thinking first. Also, she is naive, one of those FLs who make their own problems with the ML always saving them)
