There’s a movie that says that even when you become a parent, there will be times when you feel lacking. A child might think differently, but there are times when it’s hard and painful, and they wish they had better parents than what they currently have.

But you see, you can’t choose your birth parents, and birth parents can’t manufacture a perfect child.

I grew up with strict, workaholic parents. I experienced both tough and gentle love, but even that couldn’t protect me from the abuse and trauma I carry to this day. Do I blame my parents because they were busy working to provide for the family? Partially, yes, because I was hurt, but mostly I feel hate toward the people who truly hurt me, and that includes myself.

You hurt people because they hurt you. It’s a cycle we all fall victim to. The birth parents certainly were not able to protect the child, but deep down, I hope that she can learn to forgive. If she can’t forget, at least I want her to be able to release herself from the burden in her heart.

You can only truly learn to accept love when you understand that you can’t change the past and learn to accept the present so you can look forward to the future.
