Turns out he actively betrayed her and was part of the plan to have her die so he could remarry and gain more status and power. you dont get to say whoopsie and turn back time after that.
He confirmed he knew what was happening and did it anyway. having someone killed for power and then deciding it wasnt worth it is not a mistake that forgivable and in no way has he “been trying to make up for it” the man has been stalking her. he was holding her HOSTAGE.
