The nobles know he’s a moody crazy bastard (he’s always been), they’re keeping his illness secret from them (except the obvious shit he pulled during the bday banquet), they know they’re hunting the princess. He lost his memory and doesn’t realize he’s been cursed with dark magic, which apparently Jennette’s presence can help. In the backstory we learned he essentially collapsed and possibly died because he was too close to Jennette (because she’s cursed the poor thing), but nobody but Doggo knows the original crown prince is alive and he’s got a vested interest in the throne.
I really hate this plot situation right now. everyone is too naive and innocent, even Claude who I thought was strong. it’s as if the enemy has all control.
I wonder what alllll the rest of the nobles in the empire think of this. Its kind of wierd that the emperor is essentially being assaulted by his enemies but seems to have to allies on his side except his tween daughter.
