It only showed one picture of the assumed biological father drinking *AFTER FL’s mom disappeared!!!
It never mentioned (yet) the father has any habits of drinking/ being abusive / being negligent.
Why are people so mad? Did you read spoilers/ the novel already?
If not, just read and stop assuming things!

Oh cmon, at least let the kid get adjusted to this new life. Otherwise she’ll likely still try to clean and do servant duties and won’t be confident enough to hold her head up against adversity.
