Did you not read the description at all? The whole “who do you like more” is related to who she’s going to succeed, whether it’s her mom or dad. Also, the story just began, give it a few chapters to set the scene. jeez
if her mother was part of the richest family on the continent why was she working for another family while in hiding instead of using her money and living on her own? And more importantly she left nothing to her daughter in case something like this happens, she seemed way too smart to let that happen
