Oh I just realized why I like this one so much…. I’ve been Laritte. I’ve been the one beaten and blamed, I’ve been the one sent away, been the one neglected and forgotten. I love this one because I see so much of myself and my pain in Laritte. Seeing things get better for her, find people who care about her, it’s like wish fulfillment to me.
I only now noticed because I’ve more recently found people who care about me, and I recognized that in the nanny trying to take care of her. My life is getting better too.
I love that she’s being portrayed as someone with trauma and self esteem issues even after she is no longer being abused. A lot of the time characters with similar backgrounds once they are in a good situation they are painted to adjust really well or they go straight to revenge without really having to do and healing and growing.
I know it won’t happen, but it’d make my life if this cat was some overwhelmingly powerful monster or god or something.. the name screams it is powerful!
