I think I know what’s going on with the wilted flowers. Her powers may be tied to her emotions. The legend isn’t trying to keep the Saintesses pure. But telling them that if they are ever hurt, they won’t become a witch but the pain will cause “curses”. At least I hope that’s what’s going on because it’s an old tale about magic being tied to one’s emotions. If you’re angry, jealous, etc. any negative emotions you can inflict curses but if you’re happy or any positive emotions, you are able to use powerful “good” magic.
