YEAH. MY POINT EXACTLY.
this looks promising, but if i were to list one of my top hated tropes for this genre, it is the consistent insistence that the working class servants are always just eagerly awaiting their opportunity to bully the poor defenseless nobles. the only good servants are the ones who are super loyal bootlickers.
hey, crazy idea, what if the servants are just… normal fucking people who go to work every day and do a good job and really don’t give a fuck to bully neglected children because bullying children is fucking evil??????
im about as “eat the rich” as they come and i despise the wealthy. but when i have the responsibility to care for a rich CHILD, im not sitting here bullying them for their parents sins. that shit is evil (also, the servants that bully children arent even doing it from a ‘eat the rich” standpoint :/ it’s normally just excitement to harm someone vulnerable in their care. i’m not saying that people like that dont exist, but the fact that it’s a genre staple to demonize the common folk is just literally classism and i hate it here lol)
all that said, this story looks interesting and i’ll keep reading. just ranting really quick about a trope i hate that is sure to also crop up here
