Guys, you are forgetting that back in the day (where this story is set) women couldn’t even inherit their family’s properties or titles… Has anyone read Jane Austin’s books or seen Pride and Prejudice even once? Women were “trained” to be good wives, not to hunt or ride horses, not even commoners did that, much less aristocrats or nobles. Check your facts first, guys! It’s not that her family is against HER, her family is against braking traditions, where women were only useful to form bonds between families through marriage and to give birth to heirs for their husbands! Our FL is defying the traditions and customs that world has, which is not so different from our own even now in 2025! There are places and societies where women are still seen as lesser beings than men, if you don’t believe it then why women are supposed to walk behind a their male friend, relative, husband, etc. in Japan? Why women cannot dress with absolute freedom in the Middle East? It’s not just in this story, back in the 1800s or earlier women couldn’t even decide on their marriages, vote or dress how they wanted. They depended on men and society dictated what was good for them and what wasn’t. It’s just showing how much we are still to change in terms of gender equality.
