i like this series overall, more or less, but two things are just kinda getting under my skin and it’s just nagging at me
1, the growing harem is just kinda… forced. like the number of characters who seem to fall for her basically at first sight for no apparent reason but we’re supposed to believe their bond is deep and meaningful in some way??? like literally, i could not be less invested. one character? sure, fine. but several? at least with sarah we have off screen bonding and the dog trauma and with kael theres the whole curse thing, even if his feelings are for some reason deeper than just that :/ but i could not give even the slightest fuck about tristen. i really wish that his sister was the reoccurring character instead. and the damn cat seems to just like her for………. no real reason?????? like why should we care???? now the first prince meets her for the very first time and he’s like “i see why ppl are obsessed with you”?????????????????? idk :/ i just dont like it. then again, im just not a fan of harems in general so this was bound to annoy me even if it wasnt as forced as it is
2. she’s simultaniously portrayed as being really smart and capable while also being portrayed as excessively naive and stupid. im okay with either tbh, im not a reader who cares if my protag is dumb or smart, but the inconsistency in her writing annoys me. not to mention she’s written as being a transmigrator who just arrived in this world a few months ago and yet she’s deeply traumatized by a family she has no bond with?????? like why should i care if the og owner of this body had a strange feud with her younger sister and why the hell should she care either???? thats not her sister, not her feud, and she didn’t have to endure the years of bullying :/ i just dont care if she one-ups her sister because why does she even care about doing that????? “i wont let you win this time”?????? WHEN WAS THERE A LAST TIME? she only lived in that mansion for two months and all the bullying she described was pretty petty and small :/ again, it’s just the inconsistent character writing. if she lived her life in this body and only recently received memories from another life, sure whatever i can get behind that. but considering the plot-line with the familiar, it seems far more likely that the original body owner is dead.
anyway, imma keep reading, but these aspects of the story are really starting to bother me :/ i would just like her characterization to be consistent and to have any reason to find her harem believable.
