Also, trauma doesn’t go away. Even if she does find herself in a better place and heals, it doesn’t mean all the scars of past abuse will just disappear. Even with “flaws” caused by a checkered past, she deserves love.
Having her change that about herself and then be accepted is a part of her trauma as well – thinking she is not worthy of love now. That she deserves love even if she is not or may never be “perfect” is far more important to her recovery than anything else.
