I can see both sides, Riftan being scared that something could happen the person he loves but maxi wanting to prove herself and move on from her dark past. I think Riftan needs to work on how he speaks to her instead of just yelling and shutting down, like giving orders. On the other side of the coin, Maxi needs to open up about ehr dark past so Riftan can see why she acts the way she does, she just wants to be useful instead of being weak like in the past. Both need more communication with each other if they want to move on happily, this back and forth of her putting herself into danger and Riftan yelling at her is just annoying and nothing is progressing in the story, Some one whos read the novel please tell me if the story and their relationship starts to get somewhere
They still have a lot to overcome. The end of the first novel ends on a rather bittersweet note. Miscommunication plays a big part in the conflict in their relationship, but I will say that they both develop exponentially as characters over the course of the two novels, Maxi especially, and they do gradually come to an understanding of each other. I totally get that Riftan comes across as overbearing (and yes, he definitely needs to learn how to communicate better–they both do), but if you read his story, his character becomes much more understandable and sympathetic. He’s been through a lot of trauma himself too. His story is set to publish in English soon. 🙂
man why can’t people understand that it’s not Maxi’s job to fight or help on the war.she is not a nun nor a mage nor a soldier.she wasn’t supposed to be on the battlefield.her going to the battlefield was an emotional and dumb move from her part not him being angry at her.Wtf is with the feminism and women power shit.when your wife doesn’t listen to a single word you say and is just whatever she wants how is it ppl only see him overreacting.her job was to stay at the barony and take care of the barony as the lady and of the barony not pulling off this shit.in the process their unborn child was killed too not saying it’s her fault in any way.but you gotta do what you are told.not being over smart.she isn’t the princess she hasn’t fought in wars or trained for warfare since a young age.she has her duties and she should be following them.but people can’t see that.whats happening is what reality is or at least should be like.not the male lead being a doormat and the fl being the saviour and doing whatever she wants and saving the day and being like women power and shit.yoh guys are just childish.meh
I agree. If I were Riftan, I don’t know anymore what to focus on… The war or my wife. Then suddenly, hearing that my wife is in danger and almost sacrificed herself wherein I should be the one protecting her, is soooo damn fucked up. I’ll be pissed to myself for sure.
So ML’s reaction here is valid, and good thing that FL knows her fault too. I hope after the war they get to talk about it and have a child soon 🥰
Nah… I don’t think he’s that emotional in this case. Imagine you’re at war and your spouse is meant to be relaxing at home… and they suddenly appear at the war base lol. More over, they almost died due to just being there. I can see how he’s losing his mind worrying about her now that he knows she’s there at risk. I understand Maxi wanting to help, but Gah damm, lol… that wasn’t the place id want my beloved to be found in at all.
if you’re shouting at your partner and giving them orders then you’re too emotional full stop. i know its a stressful, complex situation and everything but take the fucking time to have a calm conversation about things. he is way too overprotective of her and often times controlling even if it comes from a place of love.
If its truly about her general safety then sure but often he just treats her like some fragile woman whos incapable of doing anything and thats what bugs me as a reader. all he needs to do is make sure she doesnt push herself but let her be capable. (im aware that shes prone to pushing herself too far but thats her choice tbh)
either way im here for drama so like its fine until they both get their shit together and actually open up.
