Ugh, it’s great she explained that the others need to be treated kindly as well. However, you can be kind without letting others touch you. Having to hug your weird relatives is already uncomfortable as hell, telling a deeply traumatised person who hates getting touched to accept just that is beyond horrible.
I know she didn’t straight up tell him to accept head pats, but she scolded him for his (form of) refusal, told him to treat them kindly and didn’t tell him how to say no in a less violent way.
