In all fairness, she is still a kid. And plus her letting her dad die was because she was following something he probably drilled into her head since she was a toddler. And with the issue of living in a village riddled with people who will kill their friends and family for their own sakes, the fear of exposing her power would be all the greater because what if the villagers decide to sacrifice her sooner due to believing she is the key to their “curse” due to her unique abilities. Similar to the whole thing of sacrificing a pure and noble maiden basically. She is only 14 and has likely been heavily sheltered due to her abilities and so is very naive, not knowing much of the world beyond her village. Even when she was orphaned, she wasn’t made to survive on her own since the villagers helped her out of guilt and false sympathy and to possibly just ensure she lives and doesn’t leave before they could sacrifice her. This would be her first time being out in the world to learn new things and broaden her horizons.
