I think its the other way around. Mermaid flesh is a mythic trope to grant immortality if eaten. The Emperor simply maintains his immortality by taking the hearts of mermaids which is probably why he looks young compared to the Prince. Why no one in the story knows this? My theory is that the Emperor want to keep it a secret for himself and the Mermaids obviously don’t want humans learning of their secret. FL was just a pup when she went over, so they didnt tell her cuse they didnt think she could keep the secret.
I just thought of something. There is a possibility that someone disguised himself as the Emperor or lied to him and told him that the heart of a Mermac can age him. But still if the second part is true… he is still vile in my eyes.
I honestly don’t care why he never grew. He stabbed and cut out the heart of someone who cares for him. Take note everyone who complains about MLS who are disgusting. THIS is an ML who is downright disgusting and vile. I can’t think of anything that would “redeem” him.
