@Hachiko Joshua is the daughter of the current king. That means her children will have powers plus the right to inherit. George wants to get the king off the throne and either put his aunt or himself on the throne. Samuel was in on this plan but betrayed them by spiriting Joshua away. The queen agreed to cooperate but only if Joshua’s mother and her were killed (remember that chapter) but George had a heart and didn’t kill Joshua as a kid.
TLDR: George and his co-conspirators have a plan to get rid of the current king on the throne but they can’t act on it until they’ve secured Joshua. Samuel wants to use Joshua to but his own descendants on the throne.
