I also don’t get why she just looked the other way while Finn was being yelled at by his father right after getting off the carriage.
The female lead could have asked every farmer and tenant how much food or tax they have paid and then presented the numbers – since it’s basically impossible that everyone is lying, no more “evidence” is needed that the records were deliberately rigged.
She could also check the residence and uncover all the luxury that the baron has collected for himself there.
And after talking with the servants, she could now also ask to talk to Finn under four eyes and put pressure on him to make him confess.
