Just my personal opinion, I can’t blame ML for being unable to trust FL, BUT, his distrust caused her to be sad coz her choice to pick a side cost her too much (losing her mother is not enough?).
I prefer the ending that FL is happy and enjoys her life, reads a lot of books, and goes around the world just as her mother wishes, being a happy single. And for the ML, he tortured FL throughout their marriage, he has to pay for that. I hope he learns from his mistakes and becomes a great king
It feels like the author will guilt trip their way back together. Like the ml literally can’t live without her so ofc they have to get back together rather than him being a normal person who can respect her space and move on without going crazy and dying
