He might never say it into words but he was grateful to have them. He just can’t treat Aria better than his only daughter Mielle who lost her mom at childbirth.
I understand the feeling of Aria since I don’t want to have a child specially a daughter in the future. A lot of my friends and my relatives would often joke about wanting to see a little version of me. They want me to have my own family. But it won’t happen… I fear childbirth so much, my body can’t handle it and I know for a fact it may cause me my life. I don’t want to die and live my child behind in this cruel world. I love annie’s characterization. She is not 100% a good person, she is first and foremost materialistic, opportunistic and cunning, but she is also realistic in what she’s able to achieve (she bagged the rich baron and was satisfied with it, not trying to bite more than she can chew).
