They both died. Marybelle died a day or two before the Majesty died as well. It is clear that in their past life they both love each other and the king is not as evil as people see him before. He thought that because Marybelle never returned (not knowing she died already) she was a spy all along. After getting a second chance revival he purge/kill all of the people that betrayed him but of course to others it look like he just went crazy killing innocent people. Then he met Marybelle again and that’s why he never tried to kill her when he have her again. It explains why the King was so possessive, clingy and head over hills with her.
