I heard this saying from the kdrama ‘It’s Okay To Not Be Okay’, idk if these are the exact words but it’s something along these lines. “The person who gives a blind eye to the abuse is worse than the abuser”. Pierre KNOWS his siblings hate and mistreat Blanche, yet he ignores it because of “family honor” which is total bullshit. If he regretted a single thing he done, he would’ve tried helping her escape that emotionally abusive household and got on his knees and apologized from the beginning. He is absolute trash and I hope the mc is only using him. He can regret it and ask for forgiveness but a mere sorry isn’t enough to heal someone’s heart because he could’ve killed his little sister on that cliff and it’ll be all his fault.
The family, including Pierre, doesn’t love blanche genuinely. It’s always about the households honor and what can harm their image, never her well-being or her feelings. They blamed her for wanting to kill herself then continued to force her to marry an old man, like what the fuck. It feels like he is only helping her to be free of his guilt, other than genuine love and concern. The fact that they kept her around just to abuse her was especially cruel. Elder brother isn’t just sus… he’s the worst kind of person. Being the eldest (guessing from the image he was probably around 13 so definitely knew better) and abandoning her on the cliffside from where she fell was not just cruel, it was the worst kind of thing: he legit tried to kill her. He might have thought that but I am definitely certain from his attitude now that he realized that. He could have killed her and not just ruined her legs. And all of that… just because of a little stutter. She is ABSOLUTELY right. There isn’t any use to ask for God’s forgiveness… he should have been asking for his sister’s.
