I know I’m late to the party but!!! That knight would have lost his position. If a member (usually the head) of the family perceived the knight’s intervention as an act of disrespect, a challenge to his authority, or an attempt to manipulate family dynamics, it could be seen as a serious breach of loyalty. Which could potentially lead to his dismissal or worse punishments like exile or imprisonment.
