I’m pretty sure that’s the inspector who’s dead. The benefactors likely killed him and framed it as a suicide to prevent the Laura’s involvement from being leaked.
This may be right so I’m just gonna a potential SPOILER!!!! But my guess the benefactor is the uncle Landen. He’s the only one so far who would want the family to suffer. Honestly from my guess Laura’s son is actually Landen’s. Laden is probably getting revenge because he wasn’t chosen as the heir and is now trying to put his own child as the heir. That would explain why Felix looks so much like the count. It is possible to look very similar to your uncle. I think it’s the same way Hayden looks like his grandfather instead of his dad. Considering how Raina was confused by Benedict asking the doctor about how dad’s feel about their non-biological children. She doesn’t seem to understand why Benedict would ask that. Also I don’t really see why Raina would cheat so early in their marriage. Considering how much she loves Benedict I don’t think she would cheat at the beginning of their marriage. I think her hate grew much later on.
