tbh im a bit tired of the FL, she saw the ML before her death but she was just injected with something, she was starving and tired ,,, did she really see him was it not an illusion. If i was reborn i would be finding out why something happened instead of just running away making the same mistakes all over again (she is kinda .. slow)
Even if he was under a spell in their first life… to ignore/neglect someone like the future empress to the point to where they’re unprotected and end up being tortured and killed…. That’s still something he is guilty of.

I honestly don’t even know what that woman was even thinking. “If I kill the rightful ring owner I’ll get to be empress?” Didn’t you see that emperors go crazy without their soulmates? They might burn the empire down to where they won’t even be a next empress or emperor bc the whole empire will be gone.

Like he believed her affection to him was fake and only a creation of the ring, so he didnt know how to repond to her and he didnt know if what she said was real or not, if she was like his mother or not, so he keep his distance from her … again, only my theory
I trully think that the one FL saw while dying was an illusion created by that Jaqueline (or the ML under a spell). I also think the ML in the 1st TL was just trying to keep distance form FL because he didnt know how to interact with her and was afraid of ending up like his father (like some trauma from the parents?) or something like that… he didnt hate her, but only knew how much she meant to him when he found out that she was dead… Just my theory
