Please don’t do this – don’t tell other people NOT to get immersed in stories and NOT to think about plots and/or characters.
Some of us are artists ourselves and often ponder about what makes a good story and what ways would be best to make characters get together without all the stupid cliché tropes, and also what would be a healthy way for characters to hook up consensually.
Some of us – like myself – have made negative experiences in life and feel uncomfortable with so many stories that picture red-flag male protagonists as somehow “ideal” partners.
There’s a reason we think that we should better warn unexperienced women who read stories like that all the time who might slowly start to get used to the idea that it’s totally okay when men take advantage of them, or that maybe just enough love will change horrible male behaviour etc.
Talk to young people! You’d be surprised how many of them are convinced that porn portrays actual sexuality of couples or how sex “should be”….
@ Alicia101. That’s where you’re wrong. They are completely valid in the way they feel how a narrative goes in a story. That’s literally the point of a story is to make you feel something.
Now for me it depends on the story. Now if I know I’m going to read a story that’s completely trashy and be all kinds of messed up, I tend to turn my brain off. i know what I’m getting myself into. There are trigger warnings in those stories for a reason.
But this….I feel like the author wanted fluff. And I was expecting said fluff. And in fluff stories like these, its kind of jarring to see our first “intimate” scene where the FL gets taken completely advantage of because she was under the influence.

To the person beneath me, I say this with love – you’re too emotional over fictional characters and you need to get a life.
