The decent of an aspiring ruler into a villainess, a naive princess thrown straight into a den of lions, a cowardly father who shows favouritism and a helpless jester how can only watch as all these forces collide with one another.
I feel like this chapter marks the moment when Verona’s attempts to claim her right to the throne will from now on be considered as vile and cruel. People will slowly start to notice that she isn’t as kind and just as they had thought, especially when her opponent is a child. Lux will in-turn will likely gain their sympathy and given time she might end up having enough support to stand on the same level as Verona, if not more.
It’s even sadder seeing the jester struggle with his loyalty for both princess. He shows true devotion to Verona while being kind to Lux, however it’s that same “kindness” that Verona fears as Lux’s ticket to gain the upper hand from her.
Verona spoke of her plans so easily in front of the jester; is it because she was confident that he wouldn’t be able to stop her? Does she even know that he was the very first one to have betrayed her and is continuing to look after Lux behind her back??
