So the princess of Riotte kingdom hired the mercenary group back then to assassinate the young crown prince (before he became an emperor). She got together with Fabian as part of her plan and to have fun (but as we can see his constant attention and care made her slightly care for him). Then she played with Rielle by showing off Fabian being her dog.
Rielle escaped and princess after failing the assassination, got rid of the mercenaries (not sure about Fabian) and framed Rielle out of spite (and due to Rielle’s usefullness as part of the mercenary corp).
