I don’t understand exactly how the mom expects to switch their identities. So many people already know Helga. People that matter. They’re not gonna just ignore the name change or believe the switch just because the girls looks alike.
I think she is not trying to get recognized,but more exactly to be the heir and finally be able to be paid for all her efforts, like, not actual recognize but the power. But i would just go with my life, but let’s think about how in this era women doesn’t have a lot of opportunities
Honestly instead of revenge I’d go live my best life being successful away from them. I wouldn’t want anything to do with the duchess. And tbh, blame the father for cheating in the first place. He created a fucking monster out of his wife. And fk the wife for pinning the blame on a innocent child.
from my understand her “perfect revenge” is to gain an untouchable reputation and then to disappear to leave the dukedom to deal with the after math and regret replacing Hyllian with Helga? such lukewarm revenge. She could legitmately leave now and still achieve the results she’s looking for coz Hyllian would be unsuited to be a Duchess without her help. Society already sees Helga in a better light than Hyllian as it is. She really is overcomplicating things for no reason.

Her mom is quite idiotic too. How could her true daughter copy Helga’s mannerisms, personality, and way of speaking? Not just is she depriving her real daughter of her freedom, but she is setting up an incomprehensible expectation too. A noble lady who grew as a commoner will suddenly learn all the noble customs and would be outstanding too? And why isn’t Helga using the prince’s favor? If that were me, I would try to pry and test the water to see if he would be willing to extend a hand.
Why make stuff so suffocating and complicated? The only way I can be satisfied about wasting my time reading this is when the parents and look alike get killed honestly.
