Ok, misunderstandings are sooo frustrating! I’m not trying to justify his as* but, since I’m married to a veteran, I can assure you that ML’s cold attitude towards FL is due to his PTSD. In other words, he feels filthy for so much blood in his hands he doesn’t dare to touch his precious wife, he feels so evil that he feels he doesn’t deserve kindness or love, so he pushes her away. He knows he’s killed so many people, he has become insensitive to normal human emotions and prefers to stay silent rather than saying harsh words… this has happened to my husband too and it’s something you need to deal with when you decide to marry a soldier who’s seen too much sh*t on the battlefield. Now, the incident with the blond woman, we all know it’s a misunderstanding, most likely she was a friend, or someone he previously helped, trying to help him pick a piece of jewelry for FL or something of the sort. She didn’t see him being all lovey-dovey with her so, it doesn’t count as witnessing an affair… and about the servants, he was barely home, he didn’t know what was going around with their behavior, plus FL never allowed the other servant to tell ML about it either, then, how is he to find out what is going on?… Like I said, I’m not justifying his lack of interest or his constant absence, I’m just giving you reasons to accept that what the author describe about MLs personal situation with FL is plausible and happens in real life as well.

This guy is also a jerk, it’s good that he admitted his mistakes but where was he when she needed him? Was he having fun with the blonde chick? I know he was at war but still what does he want her to run into his arms like nothing happened? It doesn’t work the way he thinks and I don’t understand his cold behavior towards her and yet he didn’t even punish his servants for behaving badly with her, in fact maybe he doesn’t even know how he didn’t come home too often
