Seems like she’s turning into my least favourite kind of protagonist. I think he was just saying that. I’ve heard something similar used before when someone mentions how someone doesn’t look like other members of their family. They will turn and say: “What can’t you tell?” Most end up shutting up even if it’s not true. But I think it’s obvious she’s not a member of his family.
