It doesn’t seem regressive she’s wearing them so she matches her daughter, making her daughter feel special. She might be the most outright loving parent but it’s clearly very evident that she adores Nia and wants her to be a happy well adjusted child, so she’s willing to masquerade as an ‘average’ noble mother, for seemingly as long as she possibly can.
I wonder if these women will now pity the female lead as a supposed widow, or if they will suspect that she’s the lover of a married man or that she was left by her fianceé after becoming pregnant with his child or something?
