The value of a true apology is that it includes an honest acknowledgement of what you did wrong. In this case Killian’s biggest mistake is he never trusted Rowena, or treated their relationship as anything more than a transaction. When others accused her he never bothered to ask her for her side of the story, or was prepared to accept her words as truthful, or her emotions as genuine.
And because he refuses to apologize he’s guaranteed to make the same mistakes all over again. Man’s a time bomb, and Rowena is right to get as far away from him as possible.

He doesn’t want to say sorry because he doesn’t want to make it seem like empty words & it is useless to say sorry without doing anything to show you were sorry. So, instead of apologizing verbally, he want to make her feel he is and will always be sorry about the past through his actions.
When he answered her previous question about when she die, he honestly answered her that he might get married soon after she die. because it’s true since mariage is business & politics during their time.
but he his follow up words saying he wanted her to be buried side by side with him means that no matter whom he get married with, in his heart there is only one woman who owns the place, and that is her (Rowena).
Rowena’s pain is understandable but it’s not right for one to be blinded by their pain and oversee other people’s effort to change.

I can understand the duke as a reader that know how noble life but i can’t understand him as a woman “if u die i will marry another women but u r the only one that will buried beside me” like are u sure she want u to do that? U don’t even bother to ask her permission,if u think ur position as duke are that important just let her go 🤬🤬🤬
