I wonder if he’s really doubling down on this because he can’t see reality? Something like the original narrative trying to force itself magically? Cause the female lead of the original novel is also crazy and doesn’t see reason. it’s almost like they’re infected with madness. Alternatively the story was just told from their point of view in which they are perfectly reasonable and it’s everyone else that’s bad but in reality they are just not mentally well and making up false narratives in their head?

I sort of fell bad for him. Yes, Luna is suffering because of him and I would have cut him off as well but at the same time he did get abused by his father and whenever he ran away she was the one helping him. Obviously he got attached to her and then all of a sudden she starts acting differently. Like I get her point of view but sometimes it’s hard to let someone go and he’s clearly struggling with some other stuff to. I am not justifying him but I do sort of understand his point of view.
I would really like to agree with you, but the problem is that guy was like a wall. He never bothered correcting the misunderstandings, instead made them worse by believeing whatever he wanted. While it does seem like there is a system of sort that is messing with the characters’ heads, but his actions against others (not just the MC) make it difficult for me to empathize with him. Reminds me of the story of a master and his monkey, where the monkey kills the master by trying to protect him from the wasp/fly sitting on his face.
