Yeah, “It was and accident” and “I didn’t know” are not apologies, they’re excuses. Especially towards someone you’ve literally never said a kind word to and had a responsibility to protect.
Sorry, but I’m not convinced by this so called “apology”. I understand that he’s upset still, and also hurting, but that old man is still unwinding all his hurt on a CHILD, and honestly his “apology” didn’t even properly highlight all the shit he put her through. Honestly, I hope things get better for her, but I don’t see change in him at all beyond feeling pressured enough to actually say something that isn’t just scolding her.
