I can understand her hesitation to go back. She thought she had hidden her secret so well, only to discover she hadn’t hidden anything. Everyone already knew.
.
I saw a similar thing happen in a manga I read the other day but it was played differently. When the character revealed his secret, everyone laughed and just asked if that was all, expecting something serious. Though that had been over the span of eight years. It was played off as a lighter incident, with even the character’s partner laughing at him. It was a funny scene.
.
But this manhwa played it more seriously. For someone who had been tortured with the fear of not being accepted once they found out what she was, it makes sense she would react this way. She’s in panic mode.
Finally! Someone else thinks this too. Everyone in the last chapter’s comments just said it was drama created for nothing but I think the situation is quite hard for Eve to grasp. She has been fearing for her and her brother’s lives because of this secret. When she finally gained the courage to admit who she is, everyone’s reaction was just like “finally, about time you got over it.”
It invalidated her feelings. And to think it was quite literally everyone. Not a single person was surprised. They, as a group, had coordinated to keep this secret and let her be scared for her life. The difference between Eve keeping their origins a secret versus everyone knowing theirs, yet simply not telling about it, is huge. They kept it a secret specifically because Noel said so and he wanted to keep it a secret so she could learn to “trust” them. A ridiculous notion really.
Lying does not create trust. Eve knew this, which is why she felt immensely guilty about keeping secrets, even if it was for her safety. Noel and Rachel did not feel guilty about keeping her scared and dependent on them.
It must have felt like a cruel prank when it all unraveled.
