Well is there really any other choice? If she chooses to send the little girl out into the cold she might survive and remember later on, then kill the FL again for doing that. She could completely derail the story and let her stay there for years if the memory never returns. Since she can’t take her home without looking suspicious or getting killed she’d have to wait for a search party or until the girl herself wants to leave?
