since @AArtsy asked for me to continue providing differences between the novel and comic, I can tell you that basically everything in this chapter is different pff. I’ll summarize the events below (but not all the information about the ball bc some of it might come up in later chapters):
-Duval and Tiriel are currently still a couple so they came to the ball together, Tiriel still thinks that Duval loves her and he hasn’t told he doesn’t yet (altho he’s currently just using her for other political reasons)
-Ciella and Ray arrive at the ball together. They had their first meeting in his “Duke” persona in town (there’s a mini arc about Ciella’s minion Leather nearly getting back together with his cheating ex and getting his heart broken, Ciella briefly pretends to be Leather’s partner in order to put him in a more advantageous position and Ray gets a little bit sad about it). There’s an interesting effect of his powers to disguise his identity in the novel that it actually takes a bit of work for them to undo the spell and for a short period of time after the spell is undone, Ciella is left in a drunk like state and says a lot of silly stuff (think along the lines of “would you love me if i was a slug?” that kind of silly LOL). It’s cute and funny. They show up at the ball together and everyone in high society is shocked that Ciella bagged the illustrious duke.
I have to say though, I don’t have that many complaints about the adaptation choices of this chapter other than I really prefer them arriving together and planning together cuz that just feels cuter to me personally.
