In fact, in previous chapters, the protagonist was shown easily defeating a group of bullies and then grabbing the collar and threatening someone who was cursing at his parents, even though he was still a child.
A certified special forces badass, sent back to a younger, healthier body. But also supernaturally strong, cuz I had to reread the boar scene to figure out how the hell he choked out a boar. Like, that’s a bit much. But since we’re going supernatural, I’ll forgive the plot
