It’s a rather tacky background-story, and I actually usually dislike these puppy-love-in-retrospective-plotlines, but at least we get to see what the male lead is/was thinking, which makes him seem less bland.
I really don’t get why he just tolerated all these weird rumors if really they made his life harder. So far I thought he used the rumors so he would be left in peace while relying on his close friends and co-workers who knew the truth. However, this whole idea seems less and less logical at all.
