In the quiet southern countryside of the Queen Amar Empire, nestled by the sea, lies a small village called Auber. After the war, former soldier Nixie uses her entire fortune to buy a modest home there, determined to enjoy a peaceful life as a farmer.
That’s when she meets Benjamin Richter, a deserter from the rival Jigu Empire and a painter.
“I’ll give you everything I have, 260 gold. Paint me a picture.” “Didn’t you say yesterday you had 500 gold?” “Oops, you caught me.”
Nixie, often called crazy or a madwoman, lives up to the name as she relentlessly trails after Benjamin, pestering him at every turn.

Hm, not my cup of coffee to be honest. You might like it if you enjoy a slowly progressing story that focuses on revealing the dark past of people and places after a war has ended. The summary makes it seem like a comedy, but it is definitely not!
The art is okay, although not breathtaking, however the super deformed characters that are used now and then are rather unusual and cute.
The female lead – a former soldier – is acting way too happy-go-lucky considering her past experiences, but she also doesn’t show any skills of a soldier during the first chapters, even when she gets attacked – she just lets herself get hurt (and the wound doesn’t scar against all logic).
On the other hand there’s this “painter” (the guy on the cover), obviously the male lead, who hides many secrets, and is horribly rude – actually completely exaggeratedly – seemingly because of a war trauma and some weird pills he’s taking in order to sleep or something. His constant wrathfulness only makes him seem super suspicious (very stupid of him if he’s living in hiding) and it’s a miracle that people of this village haven’t driven him out by now.
Yes, of course there are other people living in the village too, including a second male lead, and literally everyone seems to have made grievous experiences in the past…
