I disagree. The jewels were clearly in her possession in the maids’ quarter. Who would think there are valuables in there instead of the main castle. I wouldn’t think of looking under a lowly maid’s bed or in her belongings for jewellery. You’re simply saying that because you’re not viewing it within actual context.
So, she expected the other servants to ransack everything and she didn’t think to keep her jewels close instead of under her bed. Well if she did, we won’t have a story, right? I just think author could have have put more thought into this part and avoid such stupid writing
