I guess it’s not likely for you to know but cleaning the fireplace was dangerous work especially for children. Long ago, children used to work for a living and chimney sweeping was something they could do. Unlike now, they didn’t have proper tools so they would do all of the cleaning by hand. You aren’t supposed to do it alone in case something dangerous happened. Also I forgot to mention but they used coal for a long time and that stuff could coat your lungs. When that happened it was only a matter of time before you would die due to not being able to breathe properly. That’s why the Empress is upset. Many children died which is why laws were put into place to keep adults from exploiting children through manual labor. (There are other things but yeah for this specifically that’s why)
