Tea tree is Melaleuca alternifolia and has nothing to do with the tea we drink. They meant Tea Plant which is Camillia Sinesis, the plant we get white, green, black, oolong, and Pu-Erh from.

@Happyme I think they didn’t take her from the orphanage for a free set of extra hands like her last few homes but because of some sort of magical pact between either the two of them as children or maybe their families. She either doesn’t remember or has no way of knowing (being an orphan).
The pact has drawbacks or breaking it so he’s currently in pain – that’s also why they brought her in to make sure it gets fulfilled.
