In the time most fantasy love stories are set, which is sort of medieval/victorian period in the western world, things were very different. You must remember women had no real value (and were only looked as breeding tools by their families, at least for most wealthy or noble families including royal families this was true) and women were taught to respect and think of their fathers and brothers as superior and then… to look and even cling to their husbands as if they would be their salvation. So, what she did was pretty understandable under that light of knowledge. What we now live in as part of society and what we now know as educated women wasn’t a reality back in those days…. FL is just. a normal human being who was sold off by her father, who she was taught to consider as her “owner” and later she fell in love with her husband and for love, people make the most terrifying and absurd mistakes! She should have done many things, she should have paid attention at many others but she didn’t becase she clung to the hope that by having a baby she would be saved from political disputes and we now throughout history “that” has never happened. She lived a pittyful life we only hope she does what’s best for her in this second opportunty!
